Cap going to jail?
Why don't police officers in the book just learn that Cap won't stop driving until he is at the right age . I mean like on page 3 he drove with out a license to take Rain to the hospital in the city because there was non close to where they lived . Also on chapter 11 whicthe started out on page 72 when Mr.Rodrigo had a heart attack on the school bus Cap again drove the bus to the hospital instead of pulling over like the person on the radio told him to do .And in the end of that chapter on page 76 Cap got arrested and unrested at the same time again .But this time the police officer thretenend him that if he does it again he will go to jail . What do you think ?

ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting dilemna! On one hand Cap usually only drives when there is a crisis and he usually drives fairly well during this time period. But what would happen if he did have an accident while driving? I think many of us face challenges like this - when we know what the right thing is to do but we feel the pressure to make a different decision either because there is a lot of pressure from other people. Or because we think the end result of doing something different would be easier to deal with.

I think that Cap doesn't really mean to break the law because both times he was driving,it was because of an emergency! He was driving people to the hospital! I also agree with Mr.Bowen,because I think Cap knows he is not supposed to be driving at his age without a license,but he wants to help Sophie learn to drive. I also think that Cap is under pressure because on page 62 when Cap is teaching Sophie how to drive and they see her mom,sophie says,"I may have been bugging out,but I have to say Cap was totally cool under pressure." This proves that Cap was under pressure whether to teach Sophie to drive or not.

I agree with you Tess because Cap doesn't drive in less it is an emergency and he makes it there safely so i don't think that he should be aressted. But i guess it is the law so i police officers have to take him in to be questions or else people might think that they can do something bad and they are under age so the police will just let it go. I also think that since Cap is so patient and calm when he is driving it makes him a good driver and a good teacher. "No matter what mistakes i made , it didn't seem to faze Cap." ReplyDeleteI don't think Cap will not stop driving because he thinks that if there is an emergancy he thinks it is neccesary. Althogh I don't know if sophies case was an emergancy.
